The Sick Need A Doctor

February 2, 2025

When my wife first moved here from NYC, where she grew up, the first night in her new house proved to be quite sleepless. There was this LOUD and RAGING choir of chirping coming through her window. She had never heard anything like it and couldn't fall asleep. That choir, she discovered after asking, was crickets. She hadn't even noticed the city traffic on her street in the city but these crickets! I grew up here...and I don't notice them at all. It's a phenomenon known as habituation. It's funny when it's about crickets - not so funny when it's about the deep brokenness in our lives. Is it possible we have gotten so used to being sick - feeling off - that we think this is how life is supposed to feel? Jesus seemed to indicate people like us need a doctor; this Sunday we go looking for Him and His cure.
